Live Show Rebroadcast 04: Guest, Mark Potok, Southern Poverty Law Center, Premier Anti-Hate Group Organization

Greetings!

I'm Jack Clark, host of the Blast the Right podcast, two years old and going strong.

If this is the first time you're listening to Blast The Right, you can check out last week's podcast if you want to know what the regular, prerecorded show is like. That's the show which is the most listened to grass roots progressive podcast in the country.

What you're about to hear right now, is a sample of the recently started, live call-in version of the show. (Audio quality is not as good as the prerecorded show.)

The guest is Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is probably the world's leading organization fighting right-wing hate groups. The SPLC is most famous for shutting down Klan and other hate groups through civil lawsuits.

    First let me tell you that I am a Social Democrat. I tend to agree with most of the stuff you say, but when you talk about ILLEGAL immigration we split ways.

    You should have someone that is living in my situation poor to lower middle-class, working and living in the ghetto or in the poor south to discuss this this topic. I can hear that you don't understand the subject because of these arguments;

    1.Don't live in the poor neighborhoods, trying to compete with ILLEGAL immigrants.
    2.One is a lawyer, and another a Blogger with education and most likely working a job that is not affected by immigration.
    3.You can't understand the subject, you might try....but you can't. That sounds harsh, but that's the truth.....we people of minority decent, and poor whites, have to fight for the scraps that is given to us as low income workers. You are giving them a unfair advantage, LEGAL immigrants can't compete with that, poor Americans can't compete with that.
    4.If your going to let Central Americans in (I am also Belizian, mostly Mayan and African) why not the Haitians, what kind of double standards is that!
    5.I don't blame Central Americans, I blame the rich and the uninformed Social Democrat (you) that fall into there trap. For a change why don't you look through the eyes of a LEGAL immigrant or a poor American worker, that can't live off those depressed wages that are given out now because of ILLEGAL immigration.

    Please don't just discuss a one sided view, look at all sides in the poor community.
    Maybe on the show you can interview poor people of different races and not just the Latino voice. It might open your eyes a bit.
