8 - How Right-Wingers Kill 18,900 American Infants Every Year / Contest: Barbara Bush vs. Bill O'Reilly / How Cold Is A Right-Winger's Heart? / More

Right-wingers are directly to blame for 18,900 American infants needlessly dying every year from lack of proper medical care. Says who? The CIA.

Barbara Bush's statement about people in the Houston Astrodome was pretty ugly, but O'Reilly recently said something that gives the old bat a run for her money. Hear them both, and vote!

If you say a right-winger's heart is as cold as ice, is that cold enough? I don't think so. Find out exactly how cold a right-winger's heart truly is.

You state that the U.S. infant mortality rate has been increasing over the past decades, signifying an increased number of infant deaths. According to UNICEF statistics, which I trust due to the nature of their organization, the U.S. mortality rate in 1990 was 9; in 1995 it was 8; in 2000 and 2003 it was 7. Now you say it is 6.75. Does that sound like an increase? I don't think so. Please see this link to confirm my information.

Hi cruse, I don't believe I said the U.S. infant mortality rate has been increasing for decades. Towards the end of the segment, I said that for the first time in nearly 50 years , the US infant mortality rate increased last year under George W. Bush. Even though you're responding to something I didn't say, I understand it's a podcast and you didn't have what I said in writing to refer to when you posted your comment. I appreciate your looking up real facts to present. Keep trying to keep me honest!

This is akin to an old moral dilemma.

Is it wrong to push someone off a bridge? Obviously.

What about this: You are walking across a bridge and someone is hanging, saying: "please save me" and you walk on by. Is that wrong?

Of course it is wrong. However, in the second instance there is the potential to dodge culpability.

So, although your right-wingers do not drop 18,900 babies off a bridge, the policies they push are instrumental in the deaths of these babies. To me that is absolutely wrong, but there are unfortunately ideologies (like libertarianism/ objectivism) that would disagree. Rather tragic, isn't it?

I was talking about this with my sister and she suggested that many of the 18,900 babies were babies that we would try to save in the US, that they would not necessarily try to save elsewhere.

Is there any validity to this arguement? I tried to look that kind of information up myself but could find an answer.

I know one way to reduce infant mortality - Stop Abortion! It kills more babies than any single other cause.

Great podcast - a must listen to
Jack Clark documents the right's wars on the poor, civil liberties, the right of workers to organize at work and obtain a decent working wage and work conditions, and against other countries who refuse to accept American domination. Jack provides all the sources so that you can see for yourself how the right is out to enrich itself at the expense of everyone else. Great job, Jack!

awesome show
Clark always backs up his statements against the right wing with fact and data, which gives him all the more credibility. As conglomerate media controlled by politics clouds the mainstream news media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and Democracy Now! have become my primary news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth, Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This podcast is not just entertainment, humor, chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard and in-depth on the world economic situation and how right-wing policies impact the poor and less advantaged all over the world. He examines Americas support of the World Bank, IMF,multinational corporations, etc., and connects the dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups. He gives good reasons why the right wing is NOT living up to its precious Bible, without putting down the Bible. As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate Democrat, I respect this podcast for its subject matter. The grown-up manner of the speaker is just icing on the cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying to be, he just has a deadpan delivery but doesnt have to make jokes to make it interesting. The facts make it interesting and devastating.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Jack Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to political commentary. Jack is not like some commentators who simply climb on their soap box and state their own opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes competent challenges to his way of thinking, and with logical analysis and sound research, debunks the lies, distortions, and self-deceptions of the right wing. I strongly recommend Blast the Right for people who seek the truth and care more about the long term health and well-being of the whole citizenry than the short term personal gain advocated by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack carefully shows how the high-sounding "God and country" rhetoric of the right wing is really just a smokescreen for policies that ultimately lead only to the increased misery, suffering, and death of the less fortunate for the particular benefit of the wealthy and the well-connected. And, if you find yourself in agreement, return to Podcast Alley to place your vote! Thanks!
